Teaching Sexual Health 101

This free workshop is designed to increase teachers’ comfort, knowledge and skills in teaching the Alberta Education human sexuality curriculum. Each workshop consists of 3 modules and runs over a 3 week period.Workshops are hosted online and teachers can access the workshop at any time during the 3 week period. Teachers are expected to complete all activities and participate on discussion boards in order to successfully complete this workshop. Upon successful completion, teachers will receive a certificate for 12 hours of online sexual health education training. Workshops are provided by Alberta Health Services.

Workshop Outline

The following are some of the topics covered in the workshop:

Workshop FAQ

What time are the workshops?

There are no set times for the workshop. You can log in any time to complete the 3 modules over 3 weeks. One module is released at the start of each week. Participants are encouraged to complete each module on a weekly basis.

How much time will the workshop take?

Comprised of 3 modules, this workshop will take approximately 12 hours to complete over a 3 week period. You can expect to commit about 4 hours per week. Some people may find they spend more or less time depending on their learning style.

Do I need to install any software to access the workshop?

No. You do not need to install any software to access the workshop. We use Moodle, an Open Source Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Moodle is very similar to other online learning platforms such as D2L, Blackboard and Drupal, which can be accessed by any web browser.
